
Lakshmipur district crosspendant: Cheques have been distributed among the affected people in the sustainable embankment construction project in Lakshmipur. The checks were distributed in the Majuchoudhuri Hat area of Sadar Upazila on Monday (October 27) evening.The event organized by the District Water Development Board was attended by Sadar Upazila Parishad Executive Officer Jamshed Alam Rana, Bangladesh Water Development Board Water Management Specialist Md. Moniruzzaman, Deputy Chief Extension Officer Md. Hafizur Rahman, Project Director Piyush Krishna Kundu, District Water Development Board Executive Engineer Nahid Uzzaman, Sub-Divisional Engineer Fariha Azad Anika and Char Ramni Mohan Meghna Bank Water Management Committee President Mohammad Hanif.It is learned that the checks were distributed for the rehabilitation of the affected people in the construction and reconstruction of the dam of the Tie-Embankment FCDI sub-project under the Climate-Smart Agriculture and Water Management (Bapaubo Part) project. Out of 411 people, 86 affected families were given checks. The affected people received compensation ranging from Tk 50,000 to Tk 1,20,000.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jamshed Alam Rana said, those who received checks today. They are very lucky. The government pays compensation when it acquires land. But you have received compensation even though you are not the owner of the land. Those who are receiving checks, no one will occupy government land again. The administration is constantly conducting eviction drives against illegal occupants. So, I will tell you. Those families who have received checks who have not yet removed their establishments. They will quickly remove their estab lishments. Otherwise, you will also face punishment.
